Stretch Sullivan Slipcover

The Stretch Sullivan slipcover takes out a lot of the drudgery involved in slipping covers on chairs. By properly installing the covers you no longer have to force the cover down and keep them in place with straps. By using a stretch cover all these problems can be avoided. With various types of colors available, you can make the furniture look formal or casual.

Step 1

Measure the couch or chair. Make sure all the angles, height, depth and width are measured accurately. If necessary make the measurements twice.

Step 2

Get the 2-piece slipcover with cushion cover. To make sure the material is of good quality, bring along the fabric swatches when you look for the fabrics. When you have the covers, remove the cushion.

Step 3

Put the furniture cover on the chair according to the package instructions. You can align the cover properly by using the positioning stickers. When the cover is in the correct position, the cover should be put down.

Step 4

Tuck the Stretch Sullivan slipcover down below the chair. This should be done for all the sides.

Step 5

Modify the arm width cover to correspond to the chair arms’ length. You can do this by stretching the cover. It may help to use the decorative stitch at the outside arm section of the cover. This can help with the alignment of the arm contour.

Step 6

Grab the elastic band on the cover’s foundation. Adjust and pull it as necessary. The fabric should be smooth at the chair base. This will ensure the fabric is tight below the chair and not slip off.

Step 7

Use the cushion cover to cover the chair cushion. For a T-shaped cushion, put one part of the cover end over one of the T extensions. Stretch the fabric until it fits over the other T extension.

Step 8

Now you just have to smooth out the fabric. When it is set, you can put the cushion in place. If the chair cushion is box shape, a two piece cover with a box shape cushion will be needed. The one-piece cushion is more suited for chairs without separate cushions. Follow the instructions for putting the fabric in place. This will vary per product.

By putting on Stretch Sullivan slipcovers, your chair will be protected from dirt and stains. It also makes decorating furniture easier to do.
