Step 1
Measure the loveseat arms, legs, body, height, depth etc. Double check the figures to make sure they are accurate. Make certain every figure has been measured precisely.
Step 2
Utilizing your width and length, you can determine what slipcover patterns should be used for the loveseat. A regularly shaped loveseat is easy to find a pattern for. An irregularly shaped loveseat is harder to set up a pattern for. It is still possible though it takes more work.
Step 3
Start by looking for a fabric that will match the loveseat and where it will be utilized. This is all about personal preference, but some basic guidelines are worth keeping in mind. For instance, strong fabric like microfiber is best for loveseats that will be used in the family room.
Microfiber is stain resistant, ideal for seats that will be used regularly. More luxurious fabrics like suede may be used for parlor room loveseats. Other luxury fabrics can be used for loveseats that won’t be used regularly.
Step 4
There are many ways to sew a reclining loveseat slipcover. A simple method is to sew fabric that has been sliced into various pieces. You will have to measure and slice the fabrics first for the arms, the loveseat back and front.
The foot rest must also be measured as well. Another method is to get one continuous piece for the back and front of the chair (seat included). Make sure to leave 7/8 inch overlap for the stitching.
Step 5
Set the pieces in place after cutting them. Position the pieces in the manner you want them to appear. Fold the piece over the edge and sew them. Connect the hook and loop on the sides.
Step 6
When sewing is finished, place them on the loveseat. Connect the back and arms using Velcro pieces. This is the simplest method for putting the pieces together. Tip: make sure you use a strong fabric so it will hold up to continuous use.
After you put the reclining loveseat slipcover on, check to make sure everything is correct. When everything is set, you can relax and admire your handwork.
