Chair Slipcover
A chair slipcover is much easier to fit nowadays compared to the past. There are various kinds available but the following instructions can be used with different types of covers. Properly installed, your chair will be safe from dirt and other spills.
Step 1
Measure the chair if you haven’t already. Take note of the cushion if it is a box or T-shape.
Step 2
Prepare the cover and the cushion cover (the slipcover should be distinct from the cushion cover). Tip: color coordination will be easier if you take color swatches when you buy the covers.
Step 3
Take off the cushion from the chair.
Step 4
Put the chair slipcover on the chair. To center the cover, use the positioning stickers. They will help you place everything in proper position. Now pull down the cover. Tuck this below the chair base. Repeat this for all four sides.
Step 5
Stretch the cover arm width so it conforms to the shape of the arm. Aligning can be made easier by using the outside arm stitch of the cover. This will make alignment of the chair arms easier.
Step 6
Hold the elastic bottom at the foundation of the cover. Adjust and pull as needed. Keep adjusting until the fabric is uniform at the chair’s foundation. Keep making the adjustments until the fabric is totally secure below the chair.
Step 7
Get the cushion cover and place it over the chair. If the cushion is T-shaped, slide the end at one of the T-extensions. Stretch the fabric until the cover is set over the other T. Ensure the decorative outer stitching is centered if there is one. Pull up the cover. Close the cushion.
Step 8
Smooth the fabric at the chair’s foundation. Put the cushion back on the seat.
Tips and Warnings
If the cushion is box-shaped the two-piece slipcover will be necessary. The one-piece stretch cover will be needed for a chair without a separate cushion. As you look for a cover to buy, make it a point to shop in online stores as they are cheaper. Discounts are commonplace online, so check them out.
There are many types included, but there’s no need to get confused. Just pick the type that suits the prevailing style in the room.
No matter which chair slipcovers you pick, putting them on will be less of a problem than before. By following these simple instructions, you will experience fewer frustrations.
